Sisters

30 Sep

This morning Bronwyn woke up in a terrible mood: cantankerous and surly.  Every time Holly tried to say or do anything it was met with retorts of, “don’t sit so close to me, Holly” and “I asked you not to talk to me, Holly” and “please just stay away from me, Holly”.

I asked Bronwyn what toys she planned to pack in her backpack to take to school today and she listed a few items.  Not included was her Littlest Pet Shop toy.  She had insisted on bringing it yesterday after informing me that a bunch of girls played Littlest Pet Shop on the bus, so she wanted to bring hers so she could play too.  I gathered it didn’t go well, and that they wouldn’t let her play with them.

We had a short talk on how it wasn’t nice to not include people, and that she needed to remember this the next time someone wanted to play with her…

I asked whether her friend “Kate” played, and she told me that Kate didn’t have any LPS toys.

Then Holly interrupted and told Bronwyn that Kate could play with her LPS toy and that Bronwyn could bring it to school with her so Kate could have one to play with too…

My heart is still swelled with pride and love.  Holly is the sweetest, kindest, most thoughtful almost-three-year-old I know.  I hope she never changes.
