3-2-1 Blast-Off!

2 Jun

Josselyn turned one on Saturday.  My baby is all grown-up!!  We went to the doctor this morning to discover that she is 29″ long, 20 lbs 10 oz, and head circumference is 17″.

She also passed her 12 month screening with flying colours.  She is surpassing all of her milestones with ease.

She still has no teeth, but that doesn’t stop her from eating everything she sees.  Except fruit, of course.  Child just doesn’t have much of a sweet tooth, apparently!

Josselyn loves to chatter on the phone, often turning the receiver to face her so she can “talk” more.

She is wearing mostly 12-18 month clothing, but still fits into 6-12 for a lot of things.  She is still in size 3 diapers.  Bronwyn wore size 3 until she was potty-trained, and Holly was in size 4 by 8 months!

Her hair is curly, and yellow-blonde, and her dimple on her right cheek is still there.

Josselyn is extremely attached to her blankie, crawling to it and burying her face in its folds when she is upset or tired.

She enjoys playing with her sisters (and they tolerate her), sitting in a circle with them holding onto her designated dolly while the girls play babies, or Strawberry Shortcake.

She still hates bathtime, and doesn’t care for the beach.

She enjoys being the Baby when other children come over and will allow them to dress her in bibs, and “feed” and “change” her.

She cruises around furniture, apparently learning this skill overnight while Bruce and I were out!

She likes Peek-a-Boo, and will look for Bruce under blankets and pillows (even when he is not there!).

She can wave bye-bye, clap her hands, click her tongue, give kisses, and say “mama” “dada” and “again”.

She hates any games where she is thrown in the air, or bounced on your knee.

She likes books, and will sit patiently while you read the whole thing and then hand you another one.

If she sees a camera flash, she will immediately turn to face the camera with a huge smile.

She is my most cuddly baby, and loves to curl into your neck, blanket over her face.

Since Joss is likely to be our last child, I am trying to hold onto her babyhood for as long as possible.  But, ready or not, I have a preschooler and 2 toddlers on my hands.  We can travel easier.  We can shop easier.  Naps are not necessary (but usually recommended!!).  Snacks and drinks are easily found and imaginative play rules the hours of the day.  This is my last summer with all the kids this age.  School will be upon us soon, and after that, back to work.  I need to remind myself that each day is a day to be spent enjoying the uniqueness of our family at this stage.  Our first celebratory event?  A weekend of interior camping!  And after that?  A road trip to New Brunswick.  Wish me luck…

Is this all for ME?! Well, technically, but I doubt you'll ever get to play with it with two older sisters around!

Doesn't this look like fun?!
